WayWest-Summer-Tours:
Bad
Lands, Pine Ridge Reservation & Historic Deadwood
From
July to mid September we start for this amazing four day tour from Devils
Tower National Monument (North East Wyoming) or Rapid City (South Dakota).
Please inquire for dates!
Day
1:
After
a brief sight seeing of Devils Tower National Monument or breakfast
at the mall in Rapid City we drive East to Wall Drug, a world wide
known town with a huge western Shopping Mall and several museums about
western heritage.
Day
2:
We
will spend our first night in Wall Drug before we go further East in the
morning to see the Bad Lands National Park - a landscape as wild
as it can get. We may do some hiking in the park or just drive through
- whatever we decide.
We
will drive South through the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and have
a short stop at Wounded Knee.
Westwards
we will hit Hot Springs where we stay for our second night. The
Mammoth
Site, the world's largest mammoth research facility, is well worth
a visit.
Day
3:
We
go on North through Wind Cave National State Park and Custer
State Park where we will see bison and, with a bit of luck, elk and
coyotes.
From
here we have to decide: Shopping Tour in Rapid City or Mount
Rushmore? Unfortunately the time is running out on this adventurous
drive through western history and beauty.
We
will arrive in Deadwood in the late afternoon and spend our last
evening in this historical gold town gambling and visit Saloon
No 10 - where Wild Bill Hickock got killed in a poker game.
Day
4:
After
some sight seeing in Deadwood on the next day we will go back to Devils
Tower or Rapid City through Spearfish Canyon and visit the film site
of "Dances with the wolves" (Kevin Costner).
