This
ain't no dude ranch!
... is the closest description
someone can give for this Working Cattle Ranch in the Porcupine Hills southwest
of Calgary, Alberta. If you want a hot tub, swimming pool, leisure time
in front of the TV, your horse waiting for you saddled in the barn, trail
rides in a slow pace, then this ranch is not what you are looking for!
This ranch works cattle, and it's guests have a great time doing it too.
Keith, the rancher, works
as a cowboy for the grazing association and is responsible for 1.100 head
of cattle that spend their summer in the rolling hills. Every morning starts
with a big breakfast and saddling the horses, loading them into the trailer
to go out and check the herd, doctor sicks, bring out minerals and salt,
search for strays and move the herds to new pastures.

Every
ride has a reason, and your days will be full of working cattle from horse
back. No trail rides are offered because the sun goes down before all work
is done.
The ranch also organizes
"cow camps" in the Porcupine Hills. The guests stay in tents for 3 to 6
nights and live the old cowboy way: no running water, no electricity, only
open fires, starry skies and a lot of fun very well organized. Participation
in the advanced cow camps requires good riding skills since the days can
be long.
